Chipotle - Delicious Food

Chipotle

I like to eat, more importantly I like to eat food that tastes good.

Oh yeah, if it is cheap,  so much the better.   Recently, the restaurant that my "lunch group" has been frequenting a lot is Chipotle.  It is a Mexican Grill style restaurant. It's a lot like Moe's Southwestern Grill, except it seems to taste A LOT better. I like Moe's, but I like Chipotle a lot more. The food seems fresher, they claim to use organic vegetable and range fed meats whenever possible.  Also, I don't seem to have the aftertaste that I have when I eat at Moe's. Most of the time I get the chicken burrito bowl, they will allow you to pretty much put anything on it they offer.  So I get them to load up on fajita style green peppers and onions along with black beans and rice, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream and corn. Needless to say, it is really tasty!  I also get a bag of chips to split with someone and dip the chips in the bowl for a retro nachos like meal,  Mmmmm good!

Believe it or not this is not going to be a restaurant review!

If you want to learn more about Chipotle, go to their website at http://www.chipotle.com/ .   What I did want to touch on was what I think is a very smart piece of marketing, the good old kitchen magnet. The booths, tables, as well as a lot of the walls are made out of exposed metal at ChipotleChipotle.  So for a time they were putting free magnets on them. We, of course, took the magnets since they were FREE and the magnets soon found homes around our cubes at work.  Since the magnets are kind of interesting looking, people ask us about where we got them which of course gives us time to sing praises of the fat burritos and their sisters, the burrito bowls.

I just think it is a smart and cheap way to promote your business. A few years from now, when there is a Chipotle (they are owned by McDonalds) on every street corner, this kind of guerilla advertising will be less effective.  For now, it certainly is working in getting the word out around my office.

As for their website, it stinks!  It is better than it was the first time I went to it, but that is not saying much. It is mostly flash which I never much care for anyway (movie and music sites excluded), the navigation is a pain and the pages are just fugly. Not to mention, the site seems to make a lot of noise like someone snoring. I had the site open in the back ground this afternoon and we kept hearing this low pitched snoring sound. My son was playing Zoo Tycoon 2 on another PC and we thought it was an animal sleeping, still not sure what the sound was supposed to be.

ChipotleAnyways, delicious food and cool magnets, I love that place!
